Bonjour everyone :)

This week was great! We had a snow storm on Monday night... We texted everyone and cancelled our YSA FHE because the roads were so bad but the Elders texted everyone and uncanceled it because they didn't want to sit in there apartments and so we all risked our lives and went to the church to play games... we played "murder in the dark" and it was terrifying but pretty darn fun.
We got a new Elder in the area because Elder Cox went home, His name is Elder Argyle, he served in Fredericton which is great cause i can ask him about all the people i worked with there :) One of my old investigators got baptized last week!! woohoo!!

We had a hot chocolate stand this week, we just give out free hot chocolate and talk to people on the street as we do it. We were soooooo cold... BUT you know how i told you the story of finding that less active Steven? (form China) a while back when we were clearing off cars? WELL we found ANOTHER less active while we were doing our hot chocolate stand! His name is Michael and he is from Sweden. He ended up coming to church this sunday with Steven haha we told Bishop about him and he was like "Where do you keep finding all these people??" Apparently less active students are just crawling all over Wolfville!

This is the first day of my last transfer!! I have been reflecting a lot on the things i have learned over the last 17 months and i must say that the greatest knowledge i have gained on my mission is the truthfulness of the Book Of Mormon. I am in awe of the many wonderful lessons and experiences i have had from this simple testament i am so grateful. The testimony i have gained of this book will carry me through any trial i face in my life and it is such a significant blessing.

I hope everyone had a great Valentines day! I got a cute package from my mama, the picture of just me was during the snow storm, looks lame cause you cant actually see the snow.. and then our "Godfather" pictures that we took before Elder Cox went home.. they are pretty sweet.

Love ya all!

February 8th.... 17 months!!!!

Yes... it is true... i am hitting my 17 month mark this week... but no, i am not coming home in a month... more like 2 months... WHICH IS AWESOME :)  and so so scary... starting Friday i will be one of the oldest sisters in the mission... crazy...

So this morning we went to Crystal Falls which is a really pretty and so much fun!! We went with the Elders and on of the YSA Maddie Quinton (who is moving to Edmonton next week and she is the coolest so everyone needs to be her friend!!) And Elder Cox is going home in 4 days so we tried to burn his suit (dont worry, it was not while he was wearing it..) while we were at the water fall but it was too windy and the suit was mostly polyester so we ended up just throwing it off the waterfall... it was pretty fun. Then we got stuck and had to push the car for forever, but that was just a side detail... we went early in the morning because rumor has it... there is supposed to be a snow storm tonight and tomorrow that is going to bring 50cm of snow!!! (east coasters ALWAYS make the weather sound waaaay worse then it actually is)

This week we had a pretty killer storm that was just a full day of snow, then rain, then snow, the sharp ice pellets, then more rain, then more ice, then snow again... and needless to say, the roads were awful, but needless to say.. we still went out and did stuff :) it was a good day!!

We went knocking in an area that had a lot of older people. It was a hoot because they all just use the doors in there garages to get in, so none of the front door steps were shoveled. So at every door we had to climb up to the door and then just slid down them like a slide. One house was a HUGE mansion with a HUGE staircase, we went up and down that one a few times haha (nobody was home) But other than that we did not see a whole lot of success this week.. but that's okay!! It was just a good build up to the HUGE success we are going to have THIS week!!

We got transfer letters today! Me and Sister Hotchkiss are going to be staying in Wolfville for my last transfer :) I am happy about it because i really like it here. There is so much potential and i was not done yet!!

Well i hope everyone had a great week :) Here are some pictures of us at Crystal Falls!! I don't know why, but lately every moment is the right moment for a gangster pic..

Feb 1... 2 months to go

Sooo on Monday night we have and FHE with the YSA (which consists of 3 people) and so this last Monday i decided to set up a Zombie Apocalypse activity inspired by the one they day in Halifiax once a year! We had glow sticks, flashlights, nerf guns, and a very very dark church building... IT WAS SO MUCH FUN. 6 non members and 2 less actives came and so in the end we had 14 people. Everyone loved it and we had a blast. They are all going to be coming every week now and so it is going to be a great missionary opportunity to have these non members in the church every week, even if it is just for an activity!
This week we had a BIG snow storm that resulted in our power going out for a few hours. Luckily we had the flashlights that we borrowed for the zombie apocalypse so all was well... soo much snow but luckily the days since have been weirdly warm so all the snow was off the roads in a day and things are all good.
So earlier in the week we got a potential who wanted a copy of the Book Of Mormon. She is a first year student at Acadia. When we texted her the next day to get it to her she instead invited us to a dinner with her and her friends! So we ended up having dinner with 6 students from Acadia!! We just sat around, ate food, laughed, and they would ask us questions about our missions! They are all strong in there own faiths (mostly baptist) but it was a awesome missionary opportunity and they are possibly going to be coming to our FHE activities monday nights which is awesome! So that was a cool experience and will hopefully turn into future opportunities to share our teachings with them!
On sunday we performed in church, we sang "Homeward Bound" because Elder Cox is going home in a week and a half and i am on my homeward stretch so we thought it was fitting. It went really good. I actually have a recording of it that one of the young men took but sending it over email is proving to be quite difficult.

This week have been focusing a lot on the enabling power of the atonement. A friend encouraged me to read the talk "Strength of the Lord" by Elder Bednar. And i wanted to share a statement from it with you: " Thus the enabling power of the Atonement strengthens us to do and be good and serve beyond our own individual desire and natural capacity."
i find it remarkable that God has given us a gift that enables us to go above and beyond our own natural capacity. This knowledge not only deepens our understanding of Gods love for us but also helps us to increase out individual potential! I hope this week we can all find times in the past where the Lord has helped us to go beyond our natural capacity and how we can continue to use this enabling power of the atonement in our every day lives.
LOVE YOU ALL! have a great week :)

January 25th...got the last laugh

Alright everyone... This week was pretty decent. Nothing too crazy! Everyone keeps asking about the crazy weather here but this week the weather was great! Like it was freezing cold of course... but no crazy storms!! The big storm just barely missed us. So all is well over here! I have only had one snow day so far this winter which is a MIRACLE. Especially considering the fact that last winter i spent most of the time stuck in our apartment or the church.

So this week consisted of a killer hot chocolate stand that is a hit with all the poor students, a media referral that ended up being someone pranking a friend by sending the missionaries (but jokes on them because we ended up talking to the girl and her roommate for 25 min, gave them both Books of Mormon and they are coming to our YSA FHE tonight :) and we went to the one girls baptist church the next night because she was performing... that was....interesting...) And then i went to an seniors home to do service and got my butt kicked in chinese checkers by a 90 year old lady.... So all in all a good week.
The highlight of our week was a World Wide Missionary Devotional this week! So all the missionaries from all over the world tuned in and we were given very basic and fundamental training from the apostles and leadership that overlooks missionary work in the church. It was really good! It hit a lot of the basic missionary skills with an overarching theme of teaching repentance. I really enjoyed it because it reminded me of the importance of teaching repentance as well as lead me into an awesome study of repentance and the enabling power of the atonement. I wish i could share with you the things i have learned but it is to much to try and explain over email haha

Overall, we had an awesome week! Because of the crazy weather of nice day, freezing day, nice day, freezing day, we now have a pretty sweet collection of icicles on the church.... and so of course we and the elders took this opportunity to get some sweet pics. Sadly the Elders have most of them so i will just send you one this week and the others next week!

Love you! have a great week :)

January 18th...Snow snow snow

Hello Hello everyone :)

This week was a great week! Some fun weather, lots of freezing rain, ice pellets, and snow (in that order) We had to stay inside saturday night and on sunday it took us 30 min to dig out our car... woohoo!
But SUPER awesome miracle was that we were all asked to move our cars onto the street so that the snow plow could come in and plow out all the snow from the parking lot. On our way back inside we saw a guy trying to shovel out his car cause it was covered in 4 feet of snow. So we help him out and i am talking to him about school and find out that he is actually a member of the church!! He is from China, joined the church in Ontario with his girlfriend, moved here and thought the only church was in Halifax. He had no idea for the past year that there was a church here!! He was so excited!! So he is coming to FHE tonight and church on sunday :)

On Thursday i went on exchanges in sackville. We ended up meeting up with Sister Pattison who's husband was just called as the new Mission President for the EDMONTON ALBERTA
They are going to be the new mission President and wife for the Edmonton mission and so she met with us to ask us some questions about daily mission life, what we feel her role as the wife to the mission president should be, things like that. Apparently the mission home is in sherwood park which i didnt know haha and so she has a son who will be going into grade 9 so i told her about the good schools and stuff. She had heard that Alberta is a mini Utah so i sadly had to crush her dreams but letting her know that there are lots of members in Edmonton, but it is no Utah....

We got a new investigator this week and Sister Hotchkiss is doing awesome as a teacher! She is progressing super fast and it is awesome!!

Things here in Wolfville are amazing... things are going great and i am so happy to be serving here. There is an Elder who is going home at the end of the transfer so me and him are going to be singing "Homeward Bound" in sacrament meeting soon, it is going to be awesome haha

Love you all lots :) Stay safe in the crazy weather! Sorry i have been really bad at taking pictures, sooo no pictures again this week! Dont hate me!!

January 11- Howlin all the way from Wolfville

Hey Hey Hey Ya'll

This was a great start to a new area :) To start off, Sister Hotchkiss is a champ! Give her a little more time and she is going to do some amazing things here in the east coast :)
There is so much potential here and i am so excited to really get started! Last week we were able to get a new investigator and start working with 6 different less actives :) School starts up again today so we are hoping this week to really build up our investigator teaching pool! We will see how things go. The ward here is great. There is a small gang of YSA that i already love. One girl is even going to start booking off mondays so she can come do activities with us haha

This was a week of spiritual growth for me! We had a Zone Training and the topic was spiritual self reliance. It was about how to stay motivated through your testimony rather then depending on leaders, friends, outward success or training's to motivate you (although those things are all important) And i really enjoyed it.

I find that for me i have days where i am ready to go, i am prepared to give my will to the Lord and do whatever he desires of me to do. And then other days i am tired, maybe didn't get much success the day before so i feel a bit down, and i am just more hesitant to do the Lords will that day, instead i feel the urge to just do what i want to do or whatever is easiest. But every time i am amazed at how the Lord does not get frustrated with me. He is so consistent in blessing me even when i don't necessarily deserve it. And something i was pondering this morning was how the Lords consistency has allowed me to more perfectly trust in Him. And i have seen on my mission that my ability to give my will to the Lord has slowly but surely become more consistent as a work harder to resemble the Savior.

I feel that the Savior is like this with each of us. Although we are not perfectly consistent in following Him, he is perfectly consistent in blessing us, even though there are times where we may not see or feel the blessings.
i want to end with a quote i heard in church yesterday. "What you are is a gift from God, what you become is a gift too God" Let us seek daily to give a little bit more of ourselves to the Savior!

Love you all, thanks for the prayers, i can feel them working as we carve out this new area!

January 4th -- New Area

Hello Hello everyone :) This week was very hectic but i am finally in my area and all is well!

The new missionaries were supposed to get into Halifax Tuesday night at 12:30, so we get to the airport at 1am only to find out that there flight got cancelled and they were stuck in Minneapolis. So we got home at 2am and then got up again at 4am to take another sister going home to the airport. so basically no sleep...woohoo! Then long story short, the 10 missionaries arrived overtime on 4 different flights and we finally and them all rounded up by thursday night. My "replacement" came on thursday morning so they kicked me out and i spent a day in Sackville and got my new Greenie on Friday night. So we never actually got to our new area till Friday night at like 10pm... So i have only been here for 2 days! But so far so good!
My new companion is Sister Hotchkiss, She is from Iowa and she is awesome! We are getting along great and she is basically pre-trained..... So we are going to have a really fun 2 transfers! AND she loves to cook... BONUS.
The ward seems great so far, there are already 3 young women who have decided to be my best friends haha  The potential in this area is amazing. Wolfville is a college town, everyone goes to Acadia, so the town is still a little dead due to holidays but it is going to bumpin' here by next week! So they may have kicked me out of the YSA but my focus still gets to be on students :)
I am so excited for this new year. There is such a great vibe during this time of year as everyone reflects on how they can make this year a new start. New goals and plans allow us to come closer to who we desire to become. Yesterday during church i was reflecting on how blessed we as members of the church are, because we don't have to wait for a new year to get a fresh start, but each week as we partake of the sacrament we are able to get that new start as we use the power of the atonement in our lives. How remarkable is that??? Each week we are able to reflect back on the mistakes made and the changes we are going to make in the upcoming week. Allowing ourselves the ability to progress more rapidly.

Thank-you to everyone for the emails! The learning curve here is a struggle, took us 30 min to get into the church to use the computers haha so my email time is short, so don't hate me if i don't get back to your email this week!
Love you all :)
