Bonjour everyone :)

This week was great! We had a snow storm on Monday night... We texted everyone and cancelled our YSA FHE because the roads were so bad but the Elders texted everyone and uncanceled it because they didn't want to sit in there apartments and so we all risked our lives and went to the church to play games... we played "murder in the dark" and it was terrifying but pretty darn fun.
We got a new Elder in the area because Elder Cox went home, His name is Elder Argyle, he served in Fredericton which is great cause i can ask him about all the people i worked with there :) One of my old investigators got baptized last week!! woohoo!!

We had a hot chocolate stand this week, we just give out free hot chocolate and talk to people on the street as we do it. We were soooooo cold... BUT you know how i told you the story of finding that less active Steven? (form China) a while back when we were clearing off cars? WELL we found ANOTHER less active while we were doing our hot chocolate stand! His name is Michael and he is from Sweden. He ended up coming to church this sunday with Steven haha we told Bishop about him and he was like "Where do you keep finding all these people??" Apparently less active students are just crawling all over Wolfville!

This is the first day of my last transfer!! I have been reflecting a lot on the things i have learned over the last 17 months and i must say that the greatest knowledge i have gained on my mission is the truthfulness of the Book Of Mormon. I am in awe of the many wonderful lessons and experiences i have had from this simple testament i am so grateful. The testimony i have gained of this book will carry me through any trial i face in my life and it is such a significant blessing.

I hope everyone had a great Valentines day! I got a cute package from my mama, the picture of just me was during the snow storm, looks lame cause you cant actually see the snow.. and then our "Godfather" pictures that we took before Elder Cox went home.. they are pretty sweet.

Love ya all!

February 8th.... 17 months!!!!

Yes... it is true... i am hitting my 17 month mark this week... but no, i am not coming home in a month... more like 2 months... WHICH IS AWESOME :)  and so so scary... starting Friday i will be one of the oldest sisters in the mission... crazy...

So this morning we went to Crystal Falls which is a really pretty and so much fun!! We went with the Elders and on of the YSA Maddie Quinton (who is moving to Edmonton next week and she is the coolest so everyone needs to be her friend!!) And Elder Cox is going home in 4 days so we tried to burn his suit (dont worry, it was not while he was wearing it..) while we were at the water fall but it was too windy and the suit was mostly polyester so we ended up just throwing it off the waterfall... it was pretty fun. Then we got stuck and had to push the car for forever, but that was just a side detail... we went early in the morning because rumor has it... there is supposed to be a snow storm tonight and tomorrow that is going to bring 50cm of snow!!! (east coasters ALWAYS make the weather sound waaaay worse then it actually is)

This week we had a pretty killer storm that was just a full day of snow, then rain, then snow, the sharp ice pellets, then more rain, then more ice, then snow again... and needless to say, the roads were awful, but needless to say.. we still went out and did stuff :) it was a good day!!

We went knocking in an area that had a lot of older people. It was a hoot because they all just use the doors in there garages to get in, so none of the front door steps were shoveled. So at every door we had to climb up to the door and then just slid down them like a slide. One house was a HUGE mansion with a HUGE staircase, we went up and down that one a few times haha (nobody was home) But other than that we did not see a whole lot of success this week.. but that's okay!! It was just a good build up to the HUGE success we are going to have THIS week!!

We got transfer letters today! Me and Sister Hotchkiss are going to be staying in Wolfville for my last transfer :) I am happy about it because i really like it here. There is so much potential and i was not done yet!!

Well i hope everyone had a great week :) Here are some pictures of us at Crystal Falls!! I don't know why, but lately every moment is the right moment for a gangster pic..

Feb 1... 2 months to go

Sooo on Monday night we have and FHE with the YSA (which consists of 3 people) and so this last Monday i decided to set up a Zombie Apocalypse activity inspired by the one they day in Halifiax once a year! We had glow sticks, flashlights, nerf guns, and a very very dark church building... IT WAS SO MUCH FUN. 6 non members and 2 less actives came and so in the end we had 14 people. Everyone loved it and we had a blast. They are all going to be coming every week now and so it is going to be a great missionary opportunity to have these non members in the church every week, even if it is just for an activity!
This week we had a BIG snow storm that resulted in our power going out for a few hours. Luckily we had the flashlights that we borrowed for the zombie apocalypse so all was well... soo much snow but luckily the days since have been weirdly warm so all the snow was off the roads in a day and things are all good.
So earlier in the week we got a potential who wanted a copy of the Book Of Mormon. She is a first year student at Acadia. When we texted her the next day to get it to her she instead invited us to a dinner with her and her friends! So we ended up having dinner with 6 students from Acadia!! We just sat around, ate food, laughed, and they would ask us questions about our missions! They are all strong in there own faiths (mostly baptist) but it was a awesome missionary opportunity and they are possibly going to be coming to our FHE activities monday nights which is awesome! So that was a cool experience and will hopefully turn into future opportunities to share our teachings with them!
On sunday we performed in church, we sang "Homeward Bound" because Elder Cox is going home in a week and a half and i am on my homeward stretch so we thought it was fitting. It went really good. I actually have a recording of it that one of the young men took but sending it over email is proving to be quite difficult.

This week have been focusing a lot on the enabling power of the atonement. A friend encouraged me to read the talk "Strength of the Lord" by Elder Bednar. And i wanted to share a statement from it with you: " Thus the enabling power of the Atonement strengthens us to do and be good and serve beyond our own individual desire and natural capacity."
i find it remarkable that God has given us a gift that enables us to go above and beyond our own natural capacity. This knowledge not only deepens our understanding of Gods love for us but also helps us to increase out individual potential! I hope this week we can all find times in the past where the Lord has helped us to go beyond our natural capacity and how we can continue to use this enabling power of the atonement in our every day lives.
LOVE YOU ALL! have a great week :)

January 25th...got the last laugh

Alright everyone... This week was pretty decent. Nothing too crazy! Everyone keeps asking about the crazy weather here but this week the weather was great! Like it was freezing cold of course... but no crazy storms!! The big storm just barely missed us. So all is well over here! I have only had one snow day so far this winter which is a MIRACLE. Especially considering the fact that last winter i spent most of the time stuck in our apartment or the church.

So this week consisted of a killer hot chocolate stand that is a hit with all the poor students, a media referral that ended up being someone pranking a friend by sending the missionaries (but jokes on them because we ended up talking to the girl and her roommate for 25 min, gave them both Books of Mormon and they are coming to our YSA FHE tonight :) and we went to the one girls baptist church the next night because she was performing... that was....interesting...) And then i went to an seniors home to do service and got my butt kicked in chinese checkers by a 90 year old lady.... So all in all a good week.
The highlight of our week was a World Wide Missionary Devotional this week! So all the missionaries from all over the world tuned in and we were given very basic and fundamental training from the apostles and leadership that overlooks missionary work in the church. It was really good! It hit a lot of the basic missionary skills with an overarching theme of teaching repentance. I really enjoyed it because it reminded me of the importance of teaching repentance as well as lead me into an awesome study of repentance and the enabling power of the atonement. I wish i could share with you the things i have learned but it is to much to try and explain over email haha

Overall, we had an awesome week! Because of the crazy weather of nice day, freezing day, nice day, freezing day, we now have a pretty sweet collection of icicles on the church.... and so of course we and the elders took this opportunity to get some sweet pics. Sadly the Elders have most of them so i will just send you one this week and the others next week!

Love you! have a great week :)

January 18th...Snow snow snow

Hello Hello everyone :)

This week was a great week! Some fun weather, lots of freezing rain, ice pellets, and snow (in that order) We had to stay inside saturday night and on sunday it took us 30 min to dig out our car... woohoo!
But SUPER awesome miracle was that we were all asked to move our cars onto the street so that the snow plow could come in and plow out all the snow from the parking lot. On our way back inside we saw a guy trying to shovel out his car cause it was covered in 4 feet of snow. So we help him out and i am talking to him about school and find out that he is actually a member of the church!! He is from China, joined the church in Ontario with his girlfriend, moved here and thought the only church was in Halifax. He had no idea for the past year that there was a church here!! He was so excited!! So he is coming to FHE tonight and church on sunday :)

On Thursday i went on exchanges in sackville. We ended up meeting up with Sister Pattison who's husband was just called as the new Mission President for the EDMONTON ALBERTA
They are going to be the new mission President and wife for the Edmonton mission and so she met with us to ask us some questions about daily mission life, what we feel her role as the wife to the mission president should be, things like that. Apparently the mission home is in sherwood park which i didnt know haha and so she has a son who will be going into grade 9 so i told her about the good schools and stuff. She had heard that Alberta is a mini Utah so i sadly had to crush her dreams but letting her know that there are lots of members in Edmonton, but it is no Utah....

We got a new investigator this week and Sister Hotchkiss is doing awesome as a teacher! She is progressing super fast and it is awesome!!

Things here in Wolfville are amazing... things are going great and i am so happy to be serving here. There is an Elder who is going home at the end of the transfer so me and him are going to be singing "Homeward Bound" in sacrament meeting soon, it is going to be awesome haha

Love you all lots :) Stay safe in the crazy weather! Sorry i have been really bad at taking pictures, sooo no pictures again this week! Dont hate me!!

January 11- Howlin all the way from Wolfville

Hey Hey Hey Ya'll

This was a great start to a new area :) To start off, Sister Hotchkiss is a champ! Give her a little more time and she is going to do some amazing things here in the east coast :)
There is so much potential here and i am so excited to really get started! Last week we were able to get a new investigator and start working with 6 different less actives :) School starts up again today so we are hoping this week to really build up our investigator teaching pool! We will see how things go. The ward here is great. There is a small gang of YSA that i already love. One girl is even going to start booking off mondays so she can come do activities with us haha

This was a week of spiritual growth for me! We had a Zone Training and the topic was spiritual self reliance. It was about how to stay motivated through your testimony rather then depending on leaders, friends, outward success or training's to motivate you (although those things are all important) And i really enjoyed it.

I find that for me i have days where i am ready to go, i am prepared to give my will to the Lord and do whatever he desires of me to do. And then other days i am tired, maybe didn't get much success the day before so i feel a bit down, and i am just more hesitant to do the Lords will that day, instead i feel the urge to just do what i want to do or whatever is easiest. But every time i am amazed at how the Lord does not get frustrated with me. He is so consistent in blessing me even when i don't necessarily deserve it. And something i was pondering this morning was how the Lords consistency has allowed me to more perfectly trust in Him. And i have seen on my mission that my ability to give my will to the Lord has slowly but surely become more consistent as a work harder to resemble the Savior.

I feel that the Savior is like this with each of us. Although we are not perfectly consistent in following Him, he is perfectly consistent in blessing us, even though there are times where we may not see or feel the blessings.
i want to end with a quote i heard in church yesterday. "What you are is a gift from God, what you become is a gift too God" Let us seek daily to give a little bit more of ourselves to the Savior!

Love you all, thanks for the prayers, i can feel them working as we carve out this new area!

January 4th -- New Area

Hello Hello everyone :) This week was very hectic but i am finally in my area and all is well!

The new missionaries were supposed to get into Halifax Tuesday night at 12:30, so we get to the airport at 1am only to find out that there flight got cancelled and they were stuck in Minneapolis. So we got home at 2am and then got up again at 4am to take another sister going home to the airport. so basically no sleep...woohoo! Then long story short, the 10 missionaries arrived overtime on 4 different flights and we finally and them all rounded up by thursday night. My "replacement" came on thursday morning so they kicked me out and i spent a day in Sackville and got my new Greenie on Friday night. So we never actually got to our new area till Friday night at like 10pm... So i have only been here for 2 days! But so far so good!
My new companion is Sister Hotchkiss, She is from Iowa and she is awesome! We are getting along great and she is basically pre-trained..... So we are going to have a really fun 2 transfers! AND she loves to cook... BONUS.
The ward seems great so far, there are already 3 young women who have decided to be my best friends haha  The potential in this area is amazing. Wolfville is a college town, everyone goes to Acadia, so the town is still a little dead due to holidays but it is going to bumpin' here by next week! So they may have kicked me out of the YSA but my focus still gets to be on students :)
I am so excited for this new year. There is such a great vibe during this time of year as everyone reflects on how they can make this year a new start. New goals and plans allow us to come closer to who we desire to become. Yesterday during church i was reflecting on how blessed we as members of the church are, because we don't have to wait for a new year to get a fresh start, but each week as we partake of the sacrament we are able to get that new start as we use the power of the atonement in our lives. How remarkable is that??? Each week we are able to reflect back on the mistakes made and the changes we are going to make in the upcoming week. Allowing ourselves the ability to progress more rapidly.

Thank-you to everyone for the emails! The learning curve here is a struggle, took us 30 min to get into the church to use the computers haha so my email time is short, so don't hate me if i don't get back to your email this week!
Love you all :)

December 28th--transfer to Wolfville

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! What a wonderful time of year!!

So i will start with the most exciting news.... drum role please...... President threw me a curve ball for transfers and i will be opening up Wolfville Nova Scotia and training a new missionary! "Opening" an area means that there are currently no missionaries there. There are Elders in the town over which is Kentville and it is probably the most solid ward in the whole mission so i am beyond excited to be serving there. They took sisters out about 8 months ago and are really excited for us to be coming back! The only down side is that the ward is completely scent-free which means i will not be able to use any of the shampoo, conditioner or perfume that i was sent for christmas. They give us nasty scent free hair products, deodorant and even scent free laundry detergent.... woohoo!! But i am excited to be training a new sister! It will be sooo much fun!
The most common response when i tell people where i am getting transferred to is "you lucky little bugger" (i am getting pretty famous in the mission for getting what i want ;) so although i didn't get charlottetown this is a close second best) And i am currently in the process of getting president to still let me come to the leadership training they will be having this upcoming transfer. So far he said yes but only if i give a training.... so we will see!

CHRISTMAS WAS WONDERFUL!! I love love love the Christmas season! On Christmas Eve we went with the Elders to snow-flake members doors and we left them cookies. It was lots of fun, then we played some basketball and then went to a members home for dinner. Then that night we got permission to attend a Wesleyan church service and a catholic church service... they were.... interesting.... The catholic church had a beautiful building and the music was amazing, it was just reeeeallly long...

Christmas day we got together as a zone in the morning and played some games and it was so much fun. I absolutely love the family feel that we have among the missionaries. It really felt like i was spending time with family. AND THEN AFTER I GOT TO TALK TO MY ACTUAL FAMILY! And it was so much fun! I think my favorite part is just seeing everyone interact with each other. It is so fun to see.
I miss everyone a lot but i am beyond excited to work as hard as i can in my new area for these next 3 months and then i am home bound! Scary thought but also really exciting!

I have been pondering a lot lately about my new years resolutions for 2016. I have been trying to form them to our life purpose. So i have 2 goals for each (Physical body, have joy, prepare to meet God) Something that i found cool is that my goals for having joy and preparing to meet God are actually very similar and flow well with each other. And it is because the only way to have true joy is when you are progressing in the gospel and doings Gods will. That is where true joy comes from, in satisfaction of knowing that right now, i am where God wants me to be.

I am grateful for this Christmas season that we have had. It was refreshing, fun, and motivating. I am SO excited for this new transfer. It will be full of adventures and excitement. I hope everyone had a good week with friends and family! Thank you to everyone who sent me Christmas packages, they were very much appreciated. I loved and appreciated each note and gift!!

December 14...It's Christmas Time

Hello hello everyone :)  What a week! It just zoomed right by....

So Monday we got to go to Peggys Cove with a couple missionaries who were going home. (they came to the mission half-way through a transfer and so they go home the same way haha fret not, they were not going home early or anything of that nature) And that was lots of fun, President has a sweet camera and took a bunch of pictures of all of us!

On Friday night we went to the University with the YSA and we handed out cookies to all the students that were studying for finals. Each package of cookies had a sticker on it with a little inspirational phrase like "You can do it!" or "Christmas break is right around the corner!" and then a pass along card that goes to christmas.mormon.org, it was lots of fun! a couple times we went into the "quiet zone" areas of the library and so we couldn't talk... so we just slid the cookies to them and wouldn't even say anything... i felt like i was slipping kids drugs, it was hilarious.
So President and sister Pratt were supposed to speak in sacrament meeting and give the 3rd hour training in both the Halifax family ward and YSA Branch. But due to an emergency, President couldn't go and so at 8pm saturday night we get a call saying that we need to fill in for him... woohooo! So i was up till 11:30 writing a talk and making a trianing for 3rd hour and then spoke in church and did 3rd hour with the Elders.... it was a good time. Now i realize that 11:30 does not sound very late to any of you... but i have not stayed up that late in a long time.... and i still had to wake up at 6am to finish... I also realize that when it comes to losing sleep i have turned into a wimp about it... but this was a struggle for me okay....

The work is pressing forward in the good ol' east coast. Hope everyone is getting ready for the christmas season! If you have not shared the christmas video on christmas.mormon.org DO IT.  it is awesome and needs to be shared with everyone!!

Love you!

December 7th.. Tour De Faith Champs

Hello hello everyone :)
This has been a very tiring but VERY fun week! It was the Tour De Faith and so we had our standard of 30 hours and 300 contacts. Me and Sister Weckesser ended with 34 hours and 720 contacts (people invited to learn more) we did ALOT of street contacting....like a lot.... And it was so fun and refreshing! We even went knocking which I haven't done for a while, I didn't miss that...
BUT GOOD NEWS. THE SISTERS WON THE TOUR DE FAITH. Holla! It was awesome. We have remarkable sisters in the mission right now and they all worked so hard. It was really rewarding and so much fun. Really kicked the missionaries out of the rut they were in.
So today I spent the morning with sister Pratt ordering tshirts for all the sisters. They say "tour de faith" and they say WINNERS on the back... And the elders are serving the dinner at the Christmas conference... It will be great. The assistants keep telling me that I am being prideful about the sisters, but i just keep telling them that we are champions so It doesn't matter haha

Other than that it was an all around decent week. It is finals time here at Dal, so that's the worst because NOBODY can meet with us. We got a lot of interested people who say they want to learn.... But in 2 weeks. And that's a dangerous time gap, often people forget the spirit they felt and they lose interest by then. So we are doing what we can to meet with people now and keep our visits brief, but it is still hard.

We got these advent calendars from Sister Pratt and each day has one of Christ's names on it (because throughout the Book Of Mormon and Bible he has been referenced in so many different ways) and it has been cool to study each morning the purpose and story behind each one of His names. It is remarkable to think of the many different ways Christ influences out lives. I hope we can each look for ways to remember Christ more. I encourage you each night to think about how Christ was involved in your day. I promise as you do that it will help you to feel closer to Him and in turn remember the importance of this holiday season!

Love you all :) Merry Christmas
Love,
Sister Lambert

November 30... Tour de Faith

This week was crazy. But so rewarding!
So to start we had our zone conferences this weekend. Since me and Sister Weckesser were giving a training we went to all 3 (Moncton NB, Dartmouth NS, Gander NFLD) But even though we were only in our area for a day and a half we still got two new investigators and they are pretty cool! Good things are to come here in Halifax :)
In the zone conference the Assistants gave a training on follow-up, then President announced the mission goals for 2016, then we gave a training on basically how we are going to accomplish these goals and on planning smart. It was a really good conference. THEN PRESIDENT ANNOUNCED THE "TOUR DE FAITH". I am putting this in capitals because we have been planning it for a month or so now and I am SO stoked. Basically it is a competition between Elders and Sisters. It is a week long challenge to shoot off the new mission goals. The standard for the week is 3O hours of finding and at least 300 contacts. We have different challenges each day (how many Book Of Mormons can you pass out, how many baptismal invites can you give, etc.) and so we will have daily winners and then over-all winners. And whoever loses has to serve dinner at the Christmas Conference and the winners receive prizes. Needless to say it is going to be awesome. So this is starting TODAY. Let the games begin... Being in Halifax we have a pretty sweet advantage when it comes to contacts so we have been taken out of the daily winners running but we still can contribute to the over all total. We have made a goal of 1000 contacts this week. The family sisters have the same goal. It's going to be so awesome. We are gonna be so tired and so sick of talking to people but it will be sooo worth it. Pray for us!!!

We ended our long week of conferences in NFLD and went on exchanges in Bay Roberts. I love it there. It's small, but soo pretty. And Newfies are just the funniest people in the world. I will send a picture of the seal skin Santa hat I found at a craft fair we contacted at haha The only bad part of our trip was getting home from the airport at 2am Sunday and still needing to get up at 6:30am because we need to be obedient because we NEED the blessings! Plus we were doing a mission wide fast to start off the Tour Da Faith, so my brain was basically out of commission all day haha. It was a struggle....
With that said, I feel so blessed for the opportunities I have been given on my mission. At the beginning I dreaded the idea of EVER having to give any type of training or even talk in front of missionaries or members. But these experiences that I've had really made me love it! I LOVE giving trainings now. Preparing them will always be a struggle but the spirit that is felt as you present is remarkable. And getting to know all the missionaries along the way is a huge blessing. I find it amazing how God knows exactly what we need to grow and progress not only in our testimonies but in all other skills that can benefit many aspects of our lives. I hope to make the best of these last 4 months and do all I can to fulfill my purpose here and take as much knowledge and experience home with me.

Love you all :) Have a great week! Watch the new Christmas video that the church put out because it is adorable, and start thinking of ways that you are going to serve the Lord this Christmas Season :)

Love,
Sister Lambert

November 23... Goodbye Sister Fenn

Hello Hello!! So i have sinned... i didn't write in my journal once this week!! So this is going to be all from memory folks.

Sister Fenn is officially gone!!! it was soooo sad to say goodbye!! i loved serving with her but i know that she was sad but excited to go home! And i am really happy to now be serving with Sister Weckesser! We have only been together for a few days and i already love her!!
Between the time of having Sister Fenn leave and Sister Weckesser come i spent 2 days with Sister Law who is absolutely hilarious. In that time we got to take the 3 new sisters that came out street contacting. That was so much fun!! They are the sweetest girls in the whole world! They are going to be remarkable missionaries!! Poor things didn't have any winter gear though so they were a bit cold. I even had to take one the next day to buy winter stuff before she got shipped off to Newfoundland friday haha

BEST THING ABOUT THIS WEEK. I got to go to the temple TWICE and then to the temple dedication! How can you not have a great week after that.... i am so happy. The temple is such a blessing.

This week has been a bit uneventful (which is not a bad thing) mostly because of transfers and we have been spending a lot of time preparing our training for zone conference. It will be a good training. We are excited! Except we will be out of our area all week except for one day. So we have to try and cram everything into that day!! woohoo!

On sunday we had the temple dedication and then me and Sister weckesser held a scripture study for anyone that couldn't come to the temple dedication and any members that wanted to join. In the end we had about 12 people come and it was really good! We read Mosiah 2 and discussed what we can do in our life to find joy. We had a friend of a member come and she loved it! We will be meeting with her on thursday and picking her up as a new investigator :)

Well friends, i don;t have a ton of time this week so i will have to skip out on the spiritual thought! Sorry!!!! But i will quickly say how much i love the temple. It is so important in our life. And not just the act of going, but making sure that every day we are preparing to go. Living up to the promises we have made and truly making the temple the center of our lives.

Love you all :)

November 16..We have a Prophet!

Hello hello everyone!
Another wonderful week has come and past and new adventures yet await!

So this week we had the opportunity to attend a Remembrance Day ceremony! And oh my goodness, the spirit was so strong! And I found that to be really cool. It reminded me that this is still a country built on God. It was touching to have an opportunity to remember those who have and do fight for our freedom. This week happened to be the week I was reading through the war chapters of the Book Of Mormon. And it was upsetting to me to think about how we are still fighting today for the freedoms that the Nephites fought for (and at times the Lamanites) but I went to the ceremony with a few American missionaries so it was a nice time to show off some Canadian pride!

We helped out at a family history fair this weekend!! And man oh man.... I am so pumped about family history! On Tuesday they taught us missionaries how to index... And then we taught people how to do it on Saturday! Then we also got to learn a little about how we can expand on our own family trees :) I am so stoked.

My dearly beloved companion Sister Fenn is going home tomorrow :( it is a heart breaking day... I will miss her greatly! I have loved serving with her! But I am also really excited to say that I am going to be staying in Hali for another transfer and I will be serving with Sister Weckesser. She is a sister I already know pretty well and she is awesome! We are going to get along great :) She is a fellow Alberta dweller... She is from Rocky Mountain House and lived in Edmonton for a year so we probably know some of the same people!

My spiritual thought is based on the craziness that is exploding on social media due to the policy change made last week (from what I hear, I really don't know what is going on with social media...) but the other day I was reading the account on Alma 30 when Korihor goes and is leading away the hearts of many to believe in his wicked teachings.
"18 And thus he did preach unto them, leading away the hearts of many, causing them to lift up their heads in their wickedness, yea, leading away many women, and also men"
This account made me think of the people in the media and even close friends and fellow members who are being lead away from the teachings of the Prophet due to worldly views and pressure from society. BUT what I absolutely love about this story is how the people of Ammon react to these teachings:
"19 Now this man went over to the land of Jershon also, to preach these things among the people of Ammon, who were once the people of the Lamanites.
20 But behold they were more wise than many of the Nephites; for they took him, and bound him, and carried him before Ammon, who was a high priest over that people.
21 And it came to pass that he caused that he should be carried out of the land."

And so with this in mind, how do we react to teaching against the church? Do we allow these negative thoughts and teachings linger in our mind and in our homes? Or do we bind them up and cast them out?
With this said, I am not saying that we should not ask questions and I am not saying that it is a bad thing to address doubts. But my advice is to keep it between you, the Lord, and If needed trusted priesthood leaders. But don't listen to the voices in the media. Those who try and look to other sources are simply allowing Korihor like characters into there life, risking the testimony that they have built from years of spiritual confirmations. We must look to the one source of ultimate truth with a spirit of humility and understanding.
But hey, I trust you all to find the truth :) I will tell you that I know that we are lead by a Prophet that is called of God. And although I may not have a perfect knowledge of why the changes were made regarding the children of same sex couples, I DO have a knowledge of Thomas S Monson being called of God. And that is enough for me to have the faith and patience to know that understanding will come with time.

Love you all :) have a great week!

November 9th... Finally found good mexican food on the east coast

Hello Everyone :)
What a good week this was!! The week itself was slightly uneventful but at church we had 2 less actives, an investigator and a potential who we met on friday attend :) So the Sunday really made up for the rest of the week!!
I cannot remember if i mentioned this in last weeks email... if i did i am going to emphasize the excitement of it again... WE FINALLY FOUND GOOD MEXICAN FOOD IN THE EAST COAST. I feel that only those who have served here will understand this excitement... but it really is quite wonderful. We went there this week to celebrate Sister Fenn's 18 month mark!! It sure is a mix of emotions hitting these point in your mission... tomorrow i hit my 14 month mark and my plan is to pretend that its my 4 month mark.... woohooo for 4 months!!
This week we went to an international student event at Dal, and they have this program where once a week a bunch of international students come together and basically just talk... (to practice their English)  and so obviously it is the perfect place for us to go!! We went with a recent convert from China named Sharon and we just talked to people, we ended up getting 3 potentials and one of the people came to church on sunday!! It was funny cause one of the english volunteers there was a girl who we street contacted into just a couple days before and she shut us down pretty hard... you could tell she felt awkward having us there, but hey... its only awkward if you make it awkward right?
Anyways, i am really excited for this new finding tool we now have! And we are starting up a institute class on campus hopefully this week. I get so excited when we continue to find so many ways to work on campus!!
From what i hear there is a whole lot of nonsense being talked about with the churches handbook change regarding the kids of a same sex relationship. It's times like this where i am happy i can avoid hearing all these silly things on the internet... i think that the simple way to put it is just to remember who is giving this new commandment.
So i had the most wonderful morning before emails today! We (as in me, Sister Fenn and the Assistants) met with the Institute teacher here Brother Cartier. The reasoning for it is was because i asked him about how i can better read the old testament. It is something that i have a hard time reading because it usually leads to confusion... both in the language and understanding. And with this question i ended up learning SO MUCH ABOUT EVERYTHING. Mainly about how everything links back to the plan of happiness. Throughout this discussion we talked on plural marriage, blacks and the priesthood, and the new handbook change. All i can say in the email (because it would take forever to explain everything) is that God knows what He is doing. Thats it. His ways are higher then our ways, and if we prayerfully study these things out, and do not base our opinions and the opinions of man, then we will be able to find ultimate truth.
I feel so blessed to have the knowledge of this gospel in my life. Everything this gospel brings it so remarkable and leads to such immense joy. I feel so blessed. I am grateful to be sharing this with those that i meet, and i pray every day to find those who are ready to accept it.
I love and miss everyone back home, i hope you are all doing well!!
Love,
Sister Lambert :)

November 2.. Mom grounded me for tardiness

Hello Hello everyone!! Sorry for the late email.... my mom told me i am grounded due to tardiness. My bad.

Today was a great week! (just like every week)
We went to Saint John New Brunswick which was so much fun, especially because two of my favorite sisters are there! It was so much fun, although there was a flippen hurricane that day so we got soaked from head to toe in a solid 5 minutes of sprinting from our car to the building...

Halloween!!! Woohoo!!! Only a few of you actually followed my request and sent a picture of your Halloween costume... but fret not, the atonement is real.... i expect them all in my inbox for next week... :)
Me and Sister Fenn and a wonderful Halloween. We went and got some burgers and milk shakes from flip burger and then i got to put on my onesie and we did paperwork.... it was a real hoot! But in all reality it was super nice cause we got a ton of organization done :)

I don't have a ton to tell this week... because i forgot my journal AND my planner sooooo things are a bit rough in the memory realm of my brain right now.

Today the Pitts took us to Peggy's Cove and then some other hidden beach and light house. It was so fun!! Sister Fenn is leaving me in 2 weeks sooo i gotta make every moment count!!

sorry for the lame email... i really can't think right now. BUT I LOVE YOU ALL :) Have a great week :) and enjoy the pictures :)

October 26..Women and the Priesthood

Hello Hello ladies and gents. Hope everyone had a great week!

Our week her in Halifax was great!
We had 2 exchanges this week, one with a new STL who is just soo awesome! We had so much fun with her :) And then the other exchange was with the sisters we are over in Dartmouth. They don't have a car so we did a lot of walking and busing... It was so much fun! I felt like an old school missionary. good times. I did "bus contacting" for the first time and it was so much fun. I absolutely loved it! You basically just start conversations with the people around you and then casually turn it into a gospel conversation. I made it into a personal game to see how creative i could get at starting conversations. Then once you get the conversation started it is easy to turn it into a gospel conversation. We has some good contacts from it :)

So this weekend was the Nova Scotia stake conference. On Saturday  Sister Fenn and I attended the Priesthood leadership session... let me repeat that... On Saturday me and Sister Fenn attended the Priesthood leadership session.... yes it was weird, and yes we got weird looks from the men thinking we were those crazy people who think that women should be ordained with the Priesthood. I assure you that we were invited. President Pratt asked us to come! They broke into groups and we went into the session with the Branch Presidents, Bishops, and Ward Mission Leaders (and a few others) and they were discussing the talk given by President Nelson on Women in the church and how they need to be stepping up in leadership roles. President had us come with the intent giving an example of the benefit of having women leaders when it comes to making decisions and deciding trainings and focuses. It was a really good meeting. They talked on how they can involve the women in the wards and branches (mainly though branch/ward council) and how they can encourage women to take lead in local communities and in missionary work.
There were two comments that i remember the most. One was from our ward mission leader in the YSA ward "we are sitting here as a large group of men, trying to think about how we can involve the women more... what is wrong with this picture?" And the second was from our institute director Brother Cartier, he said "The first thing we need to change is this attitude that we are "giving" women leadership opportunities, President Nelson clearly teaches us that women will be taking there rightful and needful place"
Needless to say, it was a good meeting and i feel really blessed to have been invited to it. At the very end, President Pratt had me and Sister Fenn do a 10 min role play of the restoration for the purpose of showing the brethren the power that comes from a sisters testimony and to break down the idea that males are better teachers... WE WERE SO NERVOUS. Like thank-you President for putting the views of all the sisters teaching skills on our shoulders. gahhh... but it went good. I said a million prayers and then the spirit guided us through.

This morning i was reading in Preach My Gospel under "Our Life On Earth" and something that really hit me this is how we are given 3 main purposes in this life. 1. have joy  2. prepare to meet God   3. gain a physical body. And so i was thinking a lot about how we need to plan our lives around these 3 things to make sure we are achieving all that God desires of us in this life. We need to make sure that the things we are doing bring everlasting joy. We need to make sure we are making and keeping covenants that prepare us to return to our Heavenly Father, and we need to make sure we are taking care of the bodies that God has given us. I decided that every year i am going to make  3 specific goals and plans that will help me to achieve these goals. And these goals will be things that will help me to work towards the 3 main purposes. And so that is my soap box for the week. I hope everyone can take a look at the things they are doing in there daily life and really ponder on if those things are helping them to achieve those 3 main purposes. :)

HALLOWEEN IS THIS WEEKEND :) woohoo!! I hope everyone has a great weekend!!! The missionaries will all be trapped in our apartments at 5pm for the evening... woohoo... but what im excited for is all the on-sale candy we will find on monday! Not that i need any.... On monday i am expecting pictures from everyone of their awesome halloween costumes :)
have a great week :) Love Ya!

Sister Lambert

October 19th to Newfoundland and back again!

Hello everyone :) What a crazy week!
So this week was insane.... We only had a day and a half in our area :( Monday we were at Presidents for most of the day for thanksgiving as well as to talk about the upcoming Zone Training! It was us and the assistants and it was lots of fun! It is remarkable how much you can feel at home away from home!
Tuesday we presented the training we were going to be giving to the mission leadership in MLC and got some feedback, then that evening all of our investigators decided to disappear, either away with family (because of thanksgiving) or studying for midterms :(
Wednesday me and Sister Fenn gave the training to the Nova Scotia and the assistants gave it in New Brunswick.
What we trained on was working with the YSA and fully utilizing the campuses in our area. We created a format that every missionary can use to get to know the campus in there area. We also gave everyone a list of YSA in there area and told them how they can contact the people on the list through there Ward or Branch council with the intent to invite them to institute.
We had a cool experience while giving the training. To get the point across of why we need to use the members to contact the people on the list rather than contacting them ourselves we asked the question "how many of you could say that you would contribute the growth of your testimony to the missionaries you had back home?" Only 2 missionaries put up there hand. "how many of you would contribute the growth of your testimony to friends, family, and church leaders?" There were about 50 missionaries in the training and every single one put up their hand. The spirit filled the room as we each reflected on those who have strengthened our testimonies in our youth. It helped each of us remember why we need the members help. When it comes to the finding and rescuing efforts, missionaries should be the last resort! Even though it is our job to help strengthen testimonies, realistically we are the least effective. Having the assistance of the members is essential because they will be the ones who make a consistent and lasting change in a persons life. And this is something that i learned to be absolutely true as i saw the "fruits of the labors" of many church leaders and friends as i watch the missionaries, with now strong testimonies in Christ and Heavenly Father, devoting there time and effort in doing His work. None of us would be where we are now without the help and support of those loved ones. And so now we just need the same thing to happen with the "lost sheep" here!
We left straight from that zone training to the airport, and headed to St.Johns NFLD. From there we had a 6 hour drive to grandfalls, gave the training there, and then had a 5 hour drive to Bay Roberts where we stayed with the STLs for a day and then headed home.
We got home Saturday morning...without a single thing accomplished in our area!! (because we were gone all week) but that didn't sit right with me, so we tried to set up appointments but they all fell through... so we went out and talked to 140 people, it was lots of fun and made me feel a little bit better haha
So over all a crazy week but so fun and so fulfilling! I feel so blessed to be doing the Lords work. I feel so blessed for the calling i am given because it gives me an opportunity to see all the missionaries and really get to know each of them. The fall season is here (we had to scrape the frost off our windows this morning...) but the trees are beautiful!!!! This is by far my favorite time of the year. Newfoundland was stunning and i will add a few pictures, plus i sent some to Mom so maybe if you are all lucky she will share them with you ;)

Have a great week :)

October 12... answer to "What is it like to serve a Mission"

I will be having thanksgiving dinner at Presidents! I'm actually at his
house right now, he invited us to spend the day here haha

What is it like to serve a mission? That is sooo hard to summarize mom!!!
I would say that a mission is the best thing any girl can do to start off
her life as an adult and as a disciple of Jesus Christ. You learn skills
like talking to people, and how to study and work hard. You also get
to help people change their lives for the better and build life long
friendships. But the best thing of all is you build a strong and personal
relationship with your Heavenly Father. Through this relationship you learn
of your true identity and your potential. You are shown your weaknesses and
then you get to see these weaknesses be turned into strengths through the
atonement of Jesus Christ.
So what is it like? It is hard, but it is rewarding. We are promised in our
call letter that "greater blessings and more happiness than you have ever
yet experienced await you" and it is SO true. Any joy and happiness that
those young girls have experienced thus far will be magnified by 100 if
they choose to serve God and go on a mission.
The best thing members can do is to be friends, not just fellowshippers.
Fellowship is key, to help investigators and less-actives feel welcome at
church and is essential to conversion. But to be a friend is so much more. It
means asking them about their life, their problems, even if they are not
gospel related. It means inviting investigators or less actives into your
home not just for missionary lessons but also outside of a lesson
setting, to just to hang out and have fun. Build a real desire to want to
help them no matter what decisions they make regarding the gospel. Because
as you build that Christ like love for people, that love will radiate into
their lives so much more than you could imagine. It helps people recognize
that this is not just a church, but a family. This is something that
missionaries can't do, so members are the only ones that can not just
fellowship but friendship. It is SO important to building Gods kingdom.

October 5- General Conference

Hello hello!! Crazy week eh????

Okay okay... stop with the yelling....im going to tell you about transfers. Hali just can't get rid of me. Prayers were answered as i opened transfer letters and saw that me and Sister Fenn will be together here in Hali for her last transfer :) Woohoo!! I am killin off missionary #4. It was very satisfying to go into Presidents and telling him that i got my way once again for transfers haha (its a running joke between the two of us) SOOO since i'm staying put, i will probably be here for another two transfers, this one with Sister Fenn and then one more to train a new STLT... and then i will convince President to send me to Charlottetown for my last 2 transfers... and then home time :)

I wanted to say a quick note on how sorry i am to hear of the sadness and heartbreak that is being experience in Guatemala due to the land slide. Our prayers are going out to the people there. I know the missionaries are probably struggling form witnessing these losses but they are going to be a remarkable symbol and example of hope and love from our Heavenly Father. The light they carry will bring so much peace to the hearts of those effected by this tragedy.

OH MY. GENERAL CONFERENCE. Best time of the year!! I have grown to love and appreciate general conference so much more on my mission. It is an amazing opportunity to learn from the leaders of the church and gain personal revelation. Saturday morning i decided to dedicate my studies to studying the topic of personal revelation. It was a great study. It is truly such a remarkable blessing. I was writing down a scripture in my study journal on the role obedience plays in receiving revelation, but when i wrote it down i accidentally wrote down a completely different scripture... thinking that was weird i decided to look up the scripture that i wrote... it was a scripture i had never read before. D&C 16:3 "And i will tell you that which no man knoweth save me and thee alone" i thought it was perfect for what i was studying. General Conference is broadcasted to millions of people all over the world, the messages are meant for everyone yet the spirit will teach each of us something so unique and essential to our personal growth. If you listen carefully you will learn something that is between you and God.

Seeing President Monson struggle to hold himself up during his talk was both heart breaking and inspiring. I wished so badly to be by his side, holding him up and helping him to know our love for him. It reminded me of how much i wish i was there to help Christ when he stuggled when suffering for our sins. President Monson showed his mortal and physical weakness from 50 years of Apostolic service. I cant even imagine the stress, exhaustion and sleepless nights experienced from those 50 years that are only now taking a tole on him. It really shows how much our Savior has held him up over the years. He is a true example of someone who has literally worn out his life in the Lords service.

There is no way that i could pick out my favorite talks. So i am going to instead tell you of the two greatest things i learned from it.
1. You do not have to wait to receive joy from promised blessings. So often we fall into the trap of thinking we just need to endure and then later we will receive blessings. We can have joy RIGHT NOW. I have recognized this is so much on my mission. Even when i am stressed, tired, and things are going kind of crappy, i am still happy. I know that doesnt make sense but deep down i am just so glad. Glad to have the gospel in my life, glad to be in the Lords service, glad to be where i am, doing what i am doing. And nothing that happens in a day can take that joy away from me!
2. Consistent faith and consistent obedience = consistent blessings. If we choose to only be obedient sometimes, then we will only receive blessings sometimes. It is all according to our faith. If i want all of the promised blessings, then i am going to do all that God wants me to do! Isn`t it great how simple the gospel is??

oh and last but not least... KEEP THE SABBATH DAY HOLY.

But those are just some of the many things that i hope to apply to my life and work from this time on! I love the time after general conference where we get to go and study our notes and the talks over and over, taking in the revelation received and making goals and plans to apply it to our daily life.

On saturday we watched the morning session at the church and then the evening session at Brother Knights (he is in the branch presidency and a dental student here) and then sunday we watched both sessions at the mission home. We brought our investigator with us and she absolutely loved it!

I feel so spiritually uplifted this week... to  be honest i really cant think of what else we did this week becuase when i look back i just think of conference...

We are building some really great friendships with people in the Students with a Testimony club and Dal. The girls had us over for dinner the other night and we had a blast. Then we went to their activity-devotional thing friday night and really had a good time. The Elders went to there activity last week and they played dodgeball. When we went this week they talked about "two guys who came and went ALL OUT and there was no mercy".... the elders are really competitive. one kid even got hit in the face. We just pretended like we didnt know them... although the same name tags is a bit of a give away.

Thats all folks. Love ya lots, the weather here is gettin chilly, good ol' sweater weather is my fav though. The tights are out and the jacket is on. Luckily i still have all the stuff i got last winter so i am well prepared!! so fret not and have a great week :)
Love ya!

September 27 -Just pics

September 20, Halifax

Well hello everyone!! What a fun week this has been!
I am now in Halifax and i am loving every moment!!!! I am just so excited about everything that has to do with missionary work right now!
So it was sad leaving Cole Harbour, since Sister Shannon was going home we spent more time than i usually would during transfers saying goodbye to members, packing, and preparing the maps and books for the new sisters coming in.
On our last day we decided to go knocking in North Preston. For those who are not aware (and im sure most of you are not) North Preston is the largest black community in all of North America! And it was sooooo much fun. There is not a single white person in the whole area and we were getting the weirdest looks. Cars would drive past us, turn around and drive past us again like 6 times. I think a lot of them thought we worked for the government or something. There were some moments where i thought i was going to get jumped.... but i didn't. so all is well. Everyone we talked to was sooo nice... super Baptist, but so nice. It was a good time haha
We went to the temple for transfers and it was weird saying bye to Sister Shannon after as well as Sister Spencer who was one of my trainers!! 2/3 of my trainers are home, and the 3rd (Sister Mangelson) is going home at the end of this transfer.... crazy!
And now Halifax! It is so so great here! Sister Howell is great! We get along really well and i have so much to learn from her! And everyone here is so ready and prepared to hear the gospel! Just the other day we walked around our apartment to a bus stop and got 5 potentials and set up 3 lessons.... THAT NEVER HAPPENS. only in Halifax... We are currently teaching 2 people from China, 2 from Nepal, and 1 girl from Bolivia... it is so diverse and exciting here! (and we are teaching a couple canadians of course...) But this has been a very humbling time for me! It has been a great because i am learning to teach more simply and take out the filler words in my sentences. (which im sure you can tell by the million run on sentences in my emails)
So we are covering both the family and Ysa ward in Halifax. It is a hoot and a half. We went to the church at 8:30am for correlation and then didn't leave till 4:30pm, just enough time to make some calls and then head to the mission home for dinner and a meeting with President & Sister Pratt and the APs, that meeting goes till 8pm and then we ran to a lesson with a Child of Record we are teaching. it was a looong day. And it is going to be like that every sunday!! woohoo!
I am really excited for the responsibilities we are given for this transfer (now that i know what they actually are) This upcoming week we get to travel to my favorite place of Fredericton NB for zone training, and then go on exchanges with the STLs in St. John. In a couple weeks President is flying us out to NFLD for exchanges which i am so excited about! Me and Sister Howell both served in St.Johns so we are hoping we get to spend some time there in our travels!
OH and i have a ipad!!! Only about 6 missionaries in the mission have them, us, the APs and 2 other elders. They are so handy to have!
When we met with President Pratt on sunday we talked about the focus for this upcoming transfer, what the members need, the missionaries need, and what we need to do to strengthen the missionary success here. Our focus is on keeping the sabbath day holy. It is the Churches focus right now and is really such a simple answer to so many diverse and complex issues. And as missionaries, we can sometime be surprisingly bad and keeping the sabbath day holy. Not in the way of playing sports. But we are bad at making Sunday separate from every other day. Since we focus so much on the Lords work everyday, it makes it hard to remember that sunday needs to be different from every other day. We are going to be focusing a lot on encouraging missionaries to finish all they need to do before sunday, and use the sabbath day as a time to meet with member in the ward, less actives, and doing service. I have come to know as i have studies the purpose of the sabbath the many blessings that come as we focus on the savior. There is a talk called "The Sabbath is a delight" by Elder Nelson that talks about how we need to not focus on the things we can't do on sunday but instead focus on the good things, that blessings that come. I hope everyone can take a moment to read or listen to that talk and consider there own sabbath day activities! My favorite part of the talk is when he says "
my conduct and my attitude on the Sabbath constituted a sign between me and my Heavenly Father.12 With that understanding, I no longer needed lists of dos and don’ts. When I had to make a decision whether or not an activity was appropriate for the Sabbath, I simply asked myself, “What sign do I want to give to God?” That question made my choices about the Sabbath day crystal clear."

I feel blessed for these opportunities given to me. This transfer is going to be a huge growing experience for me! I Cant wait to see what lies ahead.
